I somehow missed this on Saturday, but Mali beat Ghana for third place in the African Cup of Nations. This fits in perfectly with the general tenor of this tournament, since Ghana should have won (having beaten them earlier in the competition). This is Mali’s best result since 1972, when it lost in the final.
