While leftists complain endlessly about America’s foreign policy, their own foreign policy leaves a lot to be desired. They have thrown their lot in with people like Gadhafi and the regime in Iran. Then there’s Syria, which the left supports and which for several months has been massacring its own people. Yet, what is the left’s response to these outrages? Nothing. It’s true that recently there were some protests against Syrian embassies. See here, though it’s unclear exactly who was protesting. But with respect to both Iran and Syria, the idea seems to be that if they aren’t U.S.-supported, then it’s not a puppet regime, so the regime is a genuine representative of the people. Or else they think that because they can’t blame the U.S. for the massacres in Syria, those events don’t have any political meaning and so need no commenting on, much less protesting against.
I know that leftists will whine, “But what would our protest do?” What it would do is to show other Americans that you aren’t just against America and that you actually do have some decency. And that’s important.
