Anyone who reads the Instapundit and College Insurrection blogs sooner or later realizes that there’s a war on men in our colleges, that our colleges have created a hostile environment for men. Consider that our colleges now have kangaroo courts for any sort of sexual harassment, and also consider the hysteria created by the statue of a man in his undies at Wellesley.
Maybe it’s time to bring back men’s colleges simply so men can be free of that hostile atmosphere. In addition, such colleges would be free of other aspects of the current intellectual climate, which has been quite degraded since I was in college. It’s a small step toward taking back our culture.
Let me add that I know of a man who taught postmodern philosophy who was run out of his job because of claims of sexual harassment. (Presumably, he was a leftist, though it is not certain, but if so, then even being on the left is no guarantee of anything, unless you have a great deal of power, like Bill Clinton.) There was no hearing, and he was simply told by security to collect his things and leave. Whether there was actually any harassment is uncertain because the woman (an associate professor) who brought the charges seems to have a habit of drawing out students, possibly getting them to say things they think she wants to hear rather than what is true. This same professor took a dislike to a woman who was an adjunct, and has managed to persuade other professors that she is rotten, even though the woman’s student evaluations suggest that there is nothing wrong.
