J.D. Vance has been making a big splash with his tales of life growing up as a poor white. In this essay, what struck me was this:
Every two weeks, I’d get a small paycheck and notice the line where federal and state income taxes were deducted from my wages.
This is what the left needs to focus on, namely getting taxes on the poor down to where they don’t even notice it because it’s just a couple pennies per dollar. Unfortunately, the left is hung up on raising taxes on the rich, not lowering them on the poor.
