How to Avoid Obamacare
Simple. Join the Amish. They have opted out, and this is legal for them. “Members of certain religious sects” are allowed to opt out of coverage if they are “conscientiously opposed to accepting any insurance benefits.” Hmm. I believe they have their own setup where they simply help each other. They also don’t participate in Social Security.
It occurs to me that if rich leftists like George Soros had simply given most of their wealth to those who didn’t have health care, then we never would have needed Obamacare. And let’s face it, Obamacare has been a big disaster for many people. Naturally, the same could be said of rich conservatives, though they already give away a lot of money.
Hey, how about if we set up a new religion whose basic creed is simply opposition to accepting any health insurance benefits? Nope, we can’t do it. The religion has to have been around since December 31, 1950, according to the IRS publication containing instructions for Form 8965. That seems rather arbitrary, but good luck getting it changed.
The Left Should Be Doing This
Mark Spahn has given me a link to this article questioning whether the Qur’an represents a literary miracle. Their opinion is that it does not. The argument of Muslims is that because no one could produce something as amazing as the Qur’an, then it must come from God. I’m not going to give all the objections raised in this article, but one of them is that the language of the Qur’an is not as clear and amazing as it should be, that much of it is obscure because of the use of foreign words or uncommon meanings of Arabic words, etc. Let me also add that even if the claim about Qur’an was true, it is always possible that it was composed not by God but by an evil but smart demon instead. We could add that God allowed this demon to do what he did to see if people would be unwary enough to accept it.
Let me also add that Jews have the spectacular miracle of the parting of the waters of the Red Sea, and Christians have the inspiring miracle of a man coming back to life after three days. Yet, Islam has nothing but a supposedly amazing literary production. That’s rather pathetic.
Anyway, this is the sort of criticism of Islam that I expected from secular leftists, who seem disinclined to do that kind of thing these days. They prefer to demand that no one should criticize Muslims, so this kind of criticism is left to adherents of other religions.
