As I pointed out here, the Norwegian women’s soccer team didn’t have any immigrants on it. (I base this on their appearance and last names; if I’m wrong let me know.) And so we have to ask why. Why in a country so devoted to immigrants, to multiculturalism, to tolerance of the Other, were there no immigrant women on the team? I suggested three answers. The first answer, which is not at all likely, is that they play different sports. Since most immigrants to Norway are from Pakistan, and the main sport in Pakistan is cricket, it is possible that these women are playing cricket. But I’ve never heard or read anything to suggest this is true, plus not all are from Pakistan. Some are from soccer-playing countries.
The second and third possibilities spell bad news for Norway’s liberals and leftists, because the absence of such women on the team means either racism in the selection process or sexism in the immigrant communities, sexism that Norwegians should be concerned about.
Accordingly, in spite of all the finger-pointing at those of us who are against multiculturalism, those who are in favor of it have some soul-searching to do themselves.
