In today's (London) Times there is the story of a research scientist at the University of Oxford, Kathleen Taylor, who says that advances in neuroscience may mean that one day we could help prevent individuals from becoming radicalized by a cult ideology, to their detriment. (It would be regarded as a form of mental illness.) She admits that such a development would have "huge libertarian implications" and so it is better to debate this topic now than to wait for it to become established.
