The current kerfuffle over the NBA’s crackdown on players and coaches who support Hong Kong is reminiscent of how our society reacted after 9/11. Suddenly, it seemed all kinds of people, organizations, and institutions couldn’t react fast enough to show how pro-Muslim they were. People who I thought would react the way I did, by seeing the attack as part of a campaign to impose Islamic law on us, instead reacted as though Muslims were the best friends they had ever had. Incredible. And it hasn’t stopped.
But now with these same people supporting China against Hong Kong, we may see a change. After all, the China they are supporting obviously hates Muslims. Between Muslims and the Chinese communists, they are going to have to choose.
