Exactly Right about the “Tantrum,” Plus an Interesting Trend

All along I’ve been saying that what I think of as the Tantrum is doing nothing to help blacks. Destroying black-owned businesses, killing black policemen, pulling down statues of people who were helpful to blacks, and mostly destroying businesses that blacks patronize won’t help them.

Here is an article about BET founder Robert Johnson, and he seems to agree with me:

[Johnson] pointed out that knocking over a statue will not “close the wealth gap,” “give a kid whose parent’s can’t afford a college money to go to college,” “close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid” or “take people off welfare or food stamps.”

Also:

Johnson said that whites who seek to “assuage guilt by doing things that make them feel good” would be much more reluctant to support payments for blacks.

That certainly seems to be true. I admit I myself am reluctant to support payments for blacks, but then I’m not out to assuage my guilt. My position is that the way to help blacks is to discourage them from acting in self-destructive ways and that if this had been done all along, blacks would be in a much better position than they are now. Too bad that didn’t happen, but the left stubbornly continues to keep blacks at the bottom by supporting them even when they act self-destructively.

Incidentally, how many people actually pay much attention to statues? I certainly don’t. And here is a link with a video of a black woman screaming hysterically in the face of a couple of black men. I can’t even tell what she is screaming about, but the link says she wants to destroy a monument, and the two black men are trying to tell her that the monument was paid for by freed slaves. She, however, is angry that they aren’t helping her destroy the monument. Incredible.

Meanwhile, I heard a story from a white woman who teaches black kindergartners. She said she asks the children what they want to be when they grow up, and the boys had been saying for years that they wanted to be basketball players. However, she noticed a couple years ago that they had started saying they wanted to be cops. This is welcome news because it is more realistic as a goal, is something that is needed in the black community, and is a good laugh on all the leftists saying that the police should be defunded. I don’t know if this is just true at her school or is generally true everywhere. I hope the latter.

Give free stuff to poor people under the proviso they lose it if they work. Make them dependents without agency. Tell them they are oppressed. Tell them if they try to improve their situation they are being bourgeois or white and not authentic. Tel them they can’t succeed on their own and need other people to advance them with special treatment. When all this makes their situation worse, go crazy and start destroying society “for them.”

I believe this sums up the woke left approach. It’s not completely incorrect, because they really are oppressed...by the left.
