According to this article in Time magazine, only 3% of Latinos use the word “Latinx.” In fact, only 23% had even heard of it. So, why is it that the “woke” continue to use it? They can't help themselves, apparently. No one knows how to pronounce it, so they should dump it. I for one will refuse to use it.
Where do these words come from? They come from fanatical lunatics in academia. I met a very far left American Indian professor whose specialty is history of the American Indians in the Columbian era. We asked her about “Native American” vs. Indian. She said “Native American” was thought up by a handful of radical scholars at Harvard. She observed, and I’ve noted this myself, actual Indians who aren’t radical academics have balked at the switch in terminology.

I thought it was Latin(ten) or maybe (five) because it is a lowercase x.

I hadn't thought of that pronunciation! I've been thinking of it as "Latinks," and my says "Latinicks," but who knows?
