Here. Like every other person doing this, including me, she did not move to the right because she was influenced by right-wing propaganda, but rather she was repulsed by problems on the left that weren’t being addressed or even acknowledged.
One of the things she complains about is that, even though she is poor and disabled, she needs to fundraise for rent on GoFundMe because she doesn’t qualify for housing aid. This is one of many, many problems with redistributions: they don’t really help all of the poor. Leftists set up all kinds of rules on who will be helped, but no matter how kindly leftists claim they are, the rules always seem to have people falling through the cracks. But if one complains that redistributions don't work very well and other solutions should be tried, one is accused of being heartless.
The author, Candace Mercer, also makes a good point, that the left goes too far when their tolerance allows harm. She doesn’t specifically talk about Muslims, but I have noticed that leftists are very concerned about protecting Muslims from non-Muslims, while not being a bit concerned about the reverse. Likewise, they are very concerned about protecting blacks from whites, but not the reverse, and they also have no interest in protecting blacks from other blacks.
Society can do better than that, I think. Why not just try to protect everyone?
