For decades we’ve been hearing about how conformist the 1950s were, but we are now in an age of conformity once again (with, for example, everyone being pressured to support Black Lives Matter). And oddly enough, the people making us conform are those who hated the 1950s. (Or since they seem to be rather young, they are the type who would have hated them had they lived through them.) So, now we see what the hatred was really about. It wasn’t that there was conformity. It was that the conformity was about the wrong things.
