See here. People in the EU who own private jets get an exemption from a jet-fuel tax that is part of a carbon pricing plan. Somehow, the elites just don’t get it about this sort of thing. They think we don’t notice, but we do, and we instantly conclude that it reduces their credibility. If global warming were as certain as, say, ingesting cyanide, then there wouldn’t be any exemptions because they wouldn’t make any sense. Even billionaires will die if they take cyanide. These exemptions are put in, as the author suggests, because the rich are basically in charge of these rules in the first place. And it’s an abuse of power to have a different set of rules for non-elites.
