Whoever this guy is, he spoke the truth about people not caring about the plight of the Uighurs. My understanding is that they were committing terrorist acts against the Chinese, and the Chinese responded, not as our elites did by blaming their own citizens, but by throwing them into concentration camps. My only criticism is that this is probably too harsh, but then I’m not on the ground and don’t know what previous measures were tried before this.
Anyway, I assume the average leftist doesn’t care because when they care about something, they organize a march. So far, I haven’t heard of any marches against the Chinese embassy in Washington. I think, then, that it’s reasonable to conclude that they don’t care. Or possibly we should conclude that they feel conflicted. On the one hand, what they are doing to those nice Muslims is awful. On the other hand, they are NOT WHITE, so we can’t bash them because that would be racist. As I suggested in this post, if the Nazis had been from the Third World, leftists would have supported them, or at any rate they would not have protested against them.
By the way, I understand that Palihapitiya has walked back his statement a bit. I think what he should have said was that he was issuing a challenge to anyone to prove him wrong when he said that people don’t care. That is, keep it about facts rather than values.
