I floated the idea the other day that Biden’s worst day possible would be if all three of these countries were attacked at once. We can’t really deal with all three of these, and would have to choose one. For me, it is obvious: Taiwan. Yes, Taiwan, because of their chip factories, which we need. There is nothing about Ukraine that is essential to us, and as for Israel, they will have to fend for themselves.
Let me say more about Ukraine. While I don’t like the idea of Russia’s invading Ukraine, they haven’t done it yet, and they have reasonable demands about not wanting weapons aimed at them nearby. The only reason we have for defending Ukraine is a promise from Clinton back in the 1990s that if they would give up their nukes, we would defend them. Except we aren’t really in a position to defend even Taiwan very well, much less Ukraine. And by the way, my not wanting Russia to invade, because I don’t like invasions, didn’t mean anything to “anti-war” leftists back in 1990. They were perfectly happy to allow Iraq to invade Kuwait.
