From this essay by David Goldman:
America had the technological edge in 1983. Today, it appears that Russia and China have gained a technological edge and are poised to extend it. That should be the occasion for a Sputnik Moment—national debate on the direction of our country. The same technologies that make us more secure give us new industries, higher productivity, and higher living standards. The fact that we have fallen behind represents a catastrophic failure on the part of the bipartisan elite that wasted endless blood and treasure on foreign adventures while neglecting the real sources of our national strength, our technological advantage and our manufacturing industry.
Goldman talks about what our elites did in terms of foreign adventures, but the real problem is what our elites are doing in terms of education and culture. Nothing they are doing will help make our country more secure, and most of it will make us less secure. Math is racist? How will that help close the technological gap? Some students are doing too well in school, and to even things out we need to reward those who aren’t? Yes, let's strive for mediocrity rather than excellence. Telling some young kids they are incurable racists? Why would they bother to contribute their best efforts to a society that doesn’t value them? None of what the woke are promoting is a bit helpful, and in fact people who worry more about social justice than the defense of their country deserve to be conquered.
“Math is racist.” “You are racist.” The sabotage of our intellectuals and our universities & schools and our culture is partly home grown, but our enemies help. China and Russia both “invest” substantial money in American universities. Russia has funded anti-fracking groups in the U.S. and Europe. And both countries have paid millions in USD to Clinton and Biden families… asymmetric warfare.
